Tapes.

The second time my car got broken into, which by the way; was three weeks after the first time it got broken into, I was so pissed because this time they were a little smarter, and instead of only taking an Iron Lung-Sexless/No Sex cd, they stole my cd player. Bastards. Anyway, my cd player had an ipod input on it, so for a second I had no music to listen to. Solution- found the original stock head unit that came with my car, and got extremely excited because now I went back...I guess 2 decades now...and I have a tape player! Alright. So, besides this being relevant because of the recent crime spree in Atlanta, it's time to get to the real point of telling that sob story, which is that I have been jamming these in my car as of lately:

Top Left to Bottom Right: Minor Threat-Discography-never...never..does this get old; Morrissey- Viva Hate -I guess I fit the straight edge stereotype of listening to emotional crap....a friend and I had a conversation about gender stereotypes...well I guess mostly stereotypes for girls (all smoke cigarettes at some point in their life, claim they like French New Wave cinema[but only have seen Breathless, which of course they all love], ect. ect. ect....). We couldn't come up with stereotypes for guys, so we stereotyped straight edge dudes...they all listen to Morrissey. Emotional crap or not. It's still good, and at least I'm not trying to be sensitive by listening to the Postal Service.; Social Circkle-March Session-This band is awesome. Their two 7"s are catchy as hell hardcore, and they stayed in constant rotation on my turntable for a couple of weeks. I saw this band at the first No Way fest and at Chaos in Tejas last year, and both times they were amazing. I think this has songs from both 7"s on it, a cover of the Lefts- Youngster on the Force, and maybe some unrecorded stuff. ; Repo Man Soundtrack- Best soundtrack ever? Iggy Pop,Black Flag, Circle Jerks, Fear, Suicidal Tendencies, Plugz, & more...awesome. Mainly this record is solid gold because of the Plugz track. El Cavo Y La Cruz. It has me going AYE AYE AYE AYE....all day long.; Bruce Springsteen-Asbury Park-The Boss never fails me.;Ramones-Mania-of course.;Cro Mags- Age of Quarrel-Listened to strictly during rush hour or while in heavy traffic. Honestly...This makes me want to roam the streets and beat people senseless.;Anti-Cimex-Raped Ass/Victims of a Bombraid-Weird tape boot of two of the most ripping records ever put out. Definitely a proud product of Swedish rage.;Youth of Today-Break Down the Walls- Take a stand, say what you feel....but you know, do that with honesty. Also...have a positive outlook on LIIIIIIIIFFFEEE!;Nuggets Comp Volume Six, Punk, Part II- great compilation of garage punk bands from the mid 60's.

Plus a couple of mixtapes with Cold Sweat, Invasion, b-side of COC-Animosity, Instangd, Irma Thomas, Systematic Death Demo....that is all that comes to mind right now.

This reminds me...I want to start a tape trade. Asap.

Going out of town for the weekend. Bukkake Boys/American Cheeseburger invade North Carolina. Good times will be had. Be back Sunday night I think...hopefully in time for the new season of Flight of the Conchords.

Natural Brew Draft Root Beer-This is actually what I have been drinking when I don't order stuff from online. They have it at Kroger around the corner, and it is really good. It's like 5 bucks for a 4 pack. Once again, it's made with cane sugar, but it actually has some interesting ingredients. Sweet birch, licorice root, and wintergreen. None of which create a strange or noticable taste. You can definitely taste the vanilla and cinnamon, but with that being said it is not completely straying away from the root beer taste we all know and love. To be honest, this is one of the more refreshing root beers I have tried.

Other than this...the Death Wish marathons are on AMC. Rainy days, root beer, and watching Charles Bronson deliver some vigilante justice ass beatings to hood rats. Sounds like my plan for the next day.

some good brews...and bad brews.

So lets start with the good stuff.

Triple XXX- First of all, this root beer sort of speaks to me because it is the most edge of all beers, so it already wins because of the name. Names aside, I didn't really have high expectations for it because even with the awesome name it just looks really lame and boring. It's also made with high fructose corn syrup, which generally, I think makes root beer too sweet and generic tasting. Of course there are a few exceptions. Triple XXX being one of them. The bottle says, "Tastes like root beer used to taste," and I am by no means a geezer, so I wouldn't know. It does taste really good though. It's not thick or overly carbonated. It was definitely a surprise. This sort of reminds me of Dads root beer.

Virgils Special Edition Bavarian Nutmeg Root Beer- Virgils is in my opinion, the better of store bought root beer. It's not too pricey, and it has a great taste. It's microbrewed for quality, and it is made of all natural ingredients. This however is Virgil's "special edition bavarian nutmeg" root beer, and it is great. It's around $6 for a bottle, most likely due to it's presentation (which I like), and it's a little creamier than the original Virgils with a little more body and a richer taste. Also, I really don't like cream style root beer that much, but Virgils seems to pull it off for me. It's creamy, but not over the top like some of the other brews out there. When I drink this around friends who are drinking beer, I feel like my bottle is looking at there bottles of low life and saying what now mother fucker. I highly recommend.

Ok...these aren't root beers, but they are definitely worthy of talking about since the holidays have just past, and I feel like I need to warn everyone that despite their cute, European looking bottles..these are terrible and you should avoid them at all costs when the holidays roll around next year.

Kinder Punsch. Well...I know it is "Mit Vitamin C" and it's got happy kids and snowmen on it, but this fruit punch concoction would not be accepted on the soccer field between each half when Sunny D or Capri Suns with orange slices were being handed to us. I almost barfed when I tasted this. If this is what kids in Germany enjoy during the holidays....then Coca Cola is not doing their job. Truly an awful holiday experience.

Julmust, the Swedish Christmas soda is just as terrible as Kinder Punsch. This one is carbonated, so it adds a kick to its already pungent taste. I'm not really sure what kind of fruit this is supposed to taste like, but it's not good. Sweden gave us IKEA...they gave us beautiful women...besides Norway, Sweden is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to. However, your soft drinks suck.

oh yeah.

These brews are great. Perfect amount of froth on top, when poured into a cold mug. Both are not incredibly sweet because of cane sugar being used in place of high fructose corn syrup. Both are very smooth, and taste great. Some root beers leave this sticky feeling in my mouth after I drink them, but neither of these do that. I discovered Henry Weinhard's root beer at some tiny country store in the middle of no where Oregon when I was on tour, and it is still my favorite. Capt'n Eli's has come the closest to matching how great Henry Weinhards brew is, so I suppose these are my favorite root beers as of right now.

also...these are amazing. they match kettle buffalo bleu chips.

Also..a week ago I came home to Frankenstein stuck like this. I can only imagine him being stuck like this for hours.

the beginning of the end.

Well...I don't know what finally brought me to the point of creating a blog. I have done a lot of stupid things in my life, but this may be the worst. I guess I am now on the same level as every other hipster with a camera and uber cool bullshit to look at. Maybe it is a solution to boredom. Maybe I am striving for attention...definitely not. I try and stay out of the lime light as much as possible, so why should i create this blog for any stranger to see? Beats me... It was kind of a spur of the moment decision at 12:33 am, when I couldn't find anything else to do, and didn't feel like flipping my Cleanse the Bacteria comp to the b-side.

I guess I need to talk about some dumb shit like what kind of cool clothes I am wearing, or what celebrity I saw walking down the road today. I could even post really funny you tube videos of idiots talking about a leprachaun they saw in a tree or people getting hit in the nuts. I suppose I could also post those annoying icancheezburgwhateverthefuck pictures with cats and dogs. I make fun of the stupid crap other people are into, so I guess it's time to talk about things I like and other people could care less about...like records and root beer...or whatever else I feel like talking about. Not that this hasn't been done already because I'm sure it has.

I guess here is a start to what probably won't last very long.

Bukkake Boys weekend tour was a blast. Good times with good friends. The shows were a little weak, but at least we got paid and didn't lose any money. I met some cool people, and spent too much money on records. In the end, many crab chips were consumed, many trips to WaWa took place, and 4 out 5 dudes in the van smelled really terrible.
